About Us
Good catch — that changes the origin story angle. Here's the rewrite:
About Oxfordlane
We started Oxfordlane because we were tired of buying clothes online that looked one way on the screen and felt completely different when they showed up.
You know the routine. You find something that looks great in the photos — nice fabric, good fit, decent price. It arrives two weeks later and the material feels like a bin bag. The stitching is already coming loose. The colour is somehow completely different from what you saw on your phone.
Return it. Try another brand. Same thing. Repeat.
We went through this enough times that we started keeping notes. Not intentionally — just a running list in our heads of the pieces that actually held up. The jumper that still looks good after thirty washes. The jacket that fits the way the photo promised. The basics that don't pill after a week.
That list became Oxfordlane.
There was no grand plan. No fashion degree. No dream of building the next big clothing brand. We just thought — what if there was a shop where someone had already done the annoying part? Gone through the dodgy orders, tested the fabrics, filtered out the rubbish, and only kept the stuff that's actually worth wearing.
That's still how we run things. Every piece on the site has been checked, worn, washed, and judged before it goes up. If it doesn't hold up in real life, it doesn't make the cut. We don't care how good it looks in a styled photo if it falls apart by the second wear.
How We Operate
Oxfordlane is run from Bulgaria, which surprises some people. But where we work doesn't change what shows up at your door.
We serve customers in the United Kingdom. Orders are shipped to the UK, and we do everything we can to keep delivery fast and prices honest. No hidden fees at checkout. No mystery "processing times" that mean your order sits in a queue for a week.
We're a small team. If something goes wrong with your order — wrong size, late delivery, you just don't love it — you're not navigating a maze of automated replies. You're reaching the same people who picked the clothes in the first place. We read every message and we actually respond.
What We're Not
We're not a fast fashion brand churning out 400 new styles every week. We're not trying to compete with the shops that sell you a £4 t-shirt that disintegrates in the wash.
We're a small, opinionated shop that stocks clothes we'd actually wear ourselves. Some of it is cosy. Some of it is sharp. All of it passed the same test — does it look good, feel good, and last longer than a month?
If you've been burned by online clothing shops before, we get it. We were you. All we'd ask is that you try one piece and see for yourself.
And if it's not what you expected? Tell us. We'd rather hear about it than have you quietly never come back.
